We offer timber consultancy services to a wide range of clients involved in the wood products and construction industry, as well as lawyers, insurance companies and the police involved with forensic investigations.

Expert Witness Service

Acting as an Expert Witness in litigious cases, our timber experts are conversant with the requirements of CPR 35 and have gained a broad experience in preparing legal reports (both as single and SJE instructions), dealing with solicitors, conferring with counsel and giving evidence in court.

Our Timber Consultants are able to draw on a wide experience of both the domestic and commercial use of timber in lifestyle and building projects; from bridges and boardrooms, furniture and flooring, pallets and packaging, through to doors and decking. 

As qualified wood technologists with close industry links, The Wood Shop Consultancy has both the technical and practical expertise to advise on the correct specification and use of timber and wood products. 

As such, we are regularly called upon to examine wood products to assess their performance, fitness for purpose or cause of failure. 

Timber Condition Surveys

The Wood Shop Consultancy is also experienced in providing condition survey reports to satisfy the requirements of Building Control, NHBC etc. 

Over the years, our consultants have been involved in surveying a number of prestigious developments, including The Guardian Royal Exchange, London; Woolwich Arsenal; Regents Park (London Zoo and surrounding Regency properties); Natural History Museum; Gloucester Docks; Queen’s Hotel, Hastings; and the Judicial Buildings of the South West Circuit (Bristol, Exeter, Taunton etc).

Chain of Custody Certification

We also offer auditing and consultancy services for companies involved in or interested in pursuing FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody Certification.
